I figure a lot of people buy the alternator harnesses because they're converting from auto to 5 speed, but is it common for the alternator harness to just up and die? I'm replacing the alternator on my 92 twin and was thinking about replacing mine while it was out but none of the wires look overheated/cooked or anything, just the alternator covered in gunk, likely from a power steering leak.
The reason I ask is because I have no clue where the other end of that thing terminates or how I'm supposed to remove it so I was just curious how likely it is that the harness may in fact be just fine.
